All smiles on graduation day!  Posted by Hello

A moment of fun at OIS...best buddies!! Posted by Hello

Overview of last week:

Wednesday: Micah and I go to donate plasma...he's rejected cuz he gave blood last month. I persevered through hours of questions, forms etc and finally gave 824 grams of plasma and "earned" $20. Not exactly my favorite way to earn money so I am thinking this won't be a regular thing but I guess it was a good experience.

Friday: Micah and I had Nikki and Kristal over for dinner. Micah made yummy Indian curry and chapatis, fruit salad and we had ice cream for dessert. In between dinner and dessert we played speed scrabble (also known as "take 2"). yay for fun times with friends!!

Saturday: I shopped! I know...it's a shock isn't it?!! Needed something to do and to get out of the house since micah's sick! :-) Met Nikki at Panera for dinner...well, I had dinner and she had coffee. yay for catching up with a good friend!!!

OSU finally decided to win a game...good thing cuz if they'd lost against Indiana I don't think I'd be able to cheer for them again! At least they have a winning season at this point.

Sunday: Went to a "new" church with Nikki and Kristal...not too impressed and it's 30 minutes from me which would make it a little inconvenient to get involved...I'll try again when more of the college and career class is there.

Baked chocolate chip cookies!!

Colts lost by 3. :-( At least they are doing better than OSU! And did you see the Browns? Almost beat the Eagles!!

And that's the week!!

I just don't know what to blog...how do people blog so often?

We're staying busy enough with work and getting settled. This is my final week on the PCU (telemetry [heart monitor] unit). It's been a good experience...I still wouldn't want to work there but it's been a good learning experience. Today and tomorrow we're in nursing orientation...ya think they would have us go through that right away but instead we do it a month after we check in. Go figure! But it's a nice break from the floor and they days are only 8 hours which is really nice.

As for our townhouse...we're pretty much settled in. I am sure we'll continue thinking of things that will make it more "homey" but all of our immediate "needs" are met for now. And micah and I are actually cooking meals and not just microwaving everything! :-) We've had Thai curry, spagetti, chili and potatoes among boring things like burgers and fries. :-) It's definitely nice having our own place but I do miss living on campus with all my friends.

Can anyone tell me what's up with OSU? 14-0 two seasons ago and now 3-3 with 2 losses in a row!! Ugh!! Maybe I should cheer for U0fM? Nah!! ;-)

Whew! What a weekend!! In a spontaneous decision I flew to Dayton/Cedarville for the weekend because...well, just because I had a 3-day weekend and I could! Of course having a girlfriend and siblings in the area was kinda a factor. :-) I spent most of Saturday hanging out with Katie at CU (Had brunch with her and Kevin to start the day)...great to see and catch up with Beth, Joel and Sarah. Oh, and the trip was a complete surprise to Katie and I definitely succeeded in surprising her!! Basically spent the afternoon looking at pictures and talking. Then had dinner at chuck's with Joel...good conversations but struggling food. :-) And then during dinner Lindsey walks in which was really cool!! And earlier in the day I talked to Amy (from camp) who just happened to be at CU for the play. So many people to see and talk to!! But after dinner I headed back to Dayton cuz I wanted to spend a least some time with Molly and everyone at school seemed to have plans (so how were your dates Beth and sarah? ;-)). Spent the evening playing cards with Molly and her aunt and uncle. Molly and I won the first round but lost the second :-( but not by much!! :-) Sunday we went to Washington Heights and then Bob Evans for brunch. Spent part of the afternoon napping and watching football (unfortunately the colts weren't televised!!) and then headed to a park for some fresh air. For dinner chrissy, molly and I made pizza which was really yummy...as were the brownies we had earlier in the day! Watched "While you were sleeping" as we ate and by the time it was over it was time to head to Kev's apartment where I spent the night. Met Katie for breakfast this morning and then spent a couple hours in the nursing department catching up with some fun people. And then it was time to head back to VA. :-( Hard to believe I did all of that this weekend...makes it kinda hard to go back to work tomorrow. :-) But it was a wonderful weekend...thanks to all those who had a part in making it so much fun!!!

Work has been going well. I am in the midst of my cardiac care unit rotation and am learning the ropes. It is hard to be very motivated when I know I'll be heading back to Mother/Baby in a few weeks anyway. But I really like the staff I am working with and so have had fun. Our apartment is looking more and more like home though it is a mess right now with all my boxes that haven't been unpacked and now 5 bikes that micah bought at an auction...$30 for some really nice bikes!!!! I should get back to the apartment and start unpacking but I'll probably get distracted with the computer! :-) Probably a good thing we don't have DSL working at the apartment yet.

Once again it's been a little while since I've posted...but it's just so hard to find the time when I don't have computer access at home...and when I've been busy trying to find a home! :-) But I am happy to report that micah and I did find a townhouse and officially moved in this past wednesday. Our shipped stuff won't be delivered until this coming wednesday and I am anxiously awaiting arrival of my things. Unfortunately it doesn't include much furniture so I've been on the lookout for deals...was able to get a bed so I am not sleeping on the floor. Yippee!! Micah and I did a bunch of grocery shopping...last night I believe...and though we don't have many utensils yet we're slowly making our townhouse home. It's in the Churchland area of Portsmouth, VA...about 7 miles from the hospital and our commute doesn't involve any tunnels and so far traffic hasn't been bad at 6:15am and it usually takes us 15 minutes to get to work. Yippee!! This past week was our first week of internship. I was on the mother/baby unit which it so happens is where I'll be following internship for about 1 year (at that time I can apply to switch to a different unit). The week went pretty well and though the mother/baby units are crazy right now I didn't feel too pushed into things. It was weird to be doing nursing things again and took a little time to adjust back into that mode. We work MTRF...2 8-hour days and 2 12-hour days. It's actually a really nice schedule and probably the best one I'll ever have here! :-) Right now I am just glad it's Friday afternoon and I am done for the weekend!! Not that I have great plans for the weekend but I am just looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and then garage sale-ing and getting some good buys...well, maybe I'll leave that up to micah and just go shop at wal-mart. :-) We're slowly adjusting to a new town and new way of life. Fortunately it's nothing like OIS but there are still some major adjustments to Navy life that we're making. It's cool living 10 minutes from the ocean though I haven't really gone to the beach or anything. :-)

In other (more exciting) news: I am "officially" dating now!! ;-)
